Carbide Material

Tungsten carbide (WC) is an inorganic chemical compound containing equal quantity of tungsten and carbon atoms. Tungsten cemented carbide can be pressed and formed into various shapes from fine gray powder, which is considered to be its most basic form.

Tungsten cemented carbide is the preferred material for parts that must withstand all forms of wear (including sliding abrasion, erosion, and metal-to-metal galling) and demands high degree of toughness. It exhibits high compressive strength and deflection resistance, and retains its hardness even at extremely high temperature, making it an ideal for metal cutting.

Main Properties
High hardness: 86~93 HRA, equaling to 68~81HRC;
Heat resistance: hardness of tungsten carbide material is kept at 60 HRC under 900~1000 ℃;
Wear resistance: some grades of tungsten carbide can cut hardened steel for over 100 times
Resistance corrosion: carbide materials with Nickel and Chromium binders are resistant to acidic solutions
Impact resistance: tungsten carbides are surprisingly tough considering their high hardness.
